Dramatic scenes took place on Wednesday evening in a residential area in Gronau in the Münsterland region. There, a seven-year-old was hit by a car and trapped under it. “With neighborhood help, four men were able to lift the accident car and rescue the seriously injured child,” the police reported.
The boy and another child had been inline skating late Wednesday afternoon. A 79-year-old driver then caught the boy when turning into a cul-de-sac for an initially unknown cause. The rescue workers were on site with a large contingent, and an ADAC helicopter also landed at the scene of the accident.
The boy, who was wearing a helmet and joint protectors, was taken to a hospital in an ambulance. According to the police, there was no longer any danger to life, also because the protective equipment had prevented worse things. The other child was not injured.
