FDP International 2009 was held at Pacifico Yokohama in Yokohama City, Japan from Oct 28 to 30, 2009. On that exhibition LG display Co. Ltd and Samsung Mobile Display Co Ltd showing their transparent display.
The LG and Samsung Display using the same materials, the Organic EL. This new display use transparent materials for both the positive and negative electrodes, and organic EL light exist from the both sides. Both LG and Samsung new display are sealed with a transparent material.
The LG Display on this occasion demonstrated a 15-inch transparent OLED display, The transmittance of the display, which is the first sample, is 30%. The LG company have not informed yet when they are going to commercialize this transparent device.Meanwhile the Samsung Mobile Display come with a 2-inch transparent OLED display. At the exhibition site, a mirror is placed behind the display to show that the back side of the display also shows an image.
