Imation which has approved by the National Institute of standards and technology to further research the magnetic tape storage solution, has released the world’s first magnetic tape which capable of multi-terabyte storage, the new Utrium Generation 5 LTO.

The Ultrium Generation 5 LTO will be able to provide companies with enhanced storage as well. The Ultrium Generation 5 LTO with the help of their TeraAngstrom tech, the tape is much smoother and this will result in fewer errors while transferring data at high speeds. The data transfer speeds can reached up to 280 MB/second while using this type of magnetic tape for compressed formats, which is double compared to the standard transfer ratio for uncompressed data.
